Rochester Friendship Festival Tournament - 3/23/24 to 3/24/24

Spring officially started on Tuesday, March 19th. Apparently, Rochester, NY did not get the memo as we woke up on Saturday morning to the sound of snowplows clearing the hotel parking lot. Fortunately, most of the Dare Devils were able to beat the storm and arrived in Rochester on Friday night. Star goalie Aria Berlin was not so lucky as she had a late start leaving NJ on Friday evening and had to weather the storm by sheltering in place in a nondescript Pennsylvania town. Coach Terence and son Patrick summoned their private jet (or maybe it was a regional commercial flight on United) and flew into Rochester on Saturday morning, arriving just in time for the opening Dare Devils game. Their chauffeur, Coach Myles, was waiting for them on the tarmac and whisked them to Tim Horton's Ice Plex for our game.

This was the season-ending tournament for the Dare Devils and everyone had a great time in Rochester.  The coaching staff is extremely proud of each and every one of the players. You all bring so much joy to our lives and it was special to witness your continued development throughout the season. We can't wait for next season!

A thank you goes out to the Rochester Ice Cats for hosting such a wonderful event.

Great season Dare Devils!

Below is a summary of the on-ice action during the weekend:

A Players - 3 mixed squad games throughout the weekend:

Superstars Ryan Griffin (aka El Capitan) and Will Milazzo represented the Dare Devils on the mixed A team squads. Playing for Team 1, our Dare Devils were solid contributors in the opening win on Saturday morning in a 3 vs. 3 game. Griffin played his typical all-around game, putting in a solid defensive effort and chipping in a goal. Milazzo had several chances but couldn't put one past the talented goalies. However, Milazzo made several strong defensive plays including two poke checks that broke up odd man rushes.

In the Saturday afternoon game, the A teams were combined further and they competed in full-ice, 5 on 5 game. Griffin and Milazzo both played sound games and led their team to victory. They competed again on Sunday morning and Griffin netted a goal but the Griffin/Milazzo team came up short in a hard fought battle.

9:00am Saturday, 3/23 and 9:00am Sunday, 3/24- Future Stars Skills Competition:

Liam Smith and Ayden Duran were the Dare Devils representatives in the skills competition and both showed off their extensive skating, shooting and passing talents.

11:00am Saturday, 3/23 - NJ Dare Devils vs. Hamilton Ice Cats:

As we were minutes away from puck drop, it became apparent that star goalie Aria Berlin would not make it in time for the game against our talented foes from Canada. The coaching staff was scrambling and we weren’t sure what we would do but ASHA goalie-for-hire, Taylor Esposito, stepped off of the ice from his 10am game and volunteered to stay on and backstop the Dare Devils. With a complete squad, the Dare Devils, wearing their crisp white uniforms, had a nail-biter against the team from Hamilton, Ontario. The game was tied in the closing minute but Coach Myles went with his instincts and asked Theodore Howard to double shift and stay on the ice for the last minute of the game. This decision paid off as Howard went to work on the forecheck and dug the puck out of the corner and passed the puck to Patrick Hung who then located Riley Chiselko Seickel on the left hashmarks. Chiselko Seickel took one stride and whipped the puck past the Ice Cats goalie a second before the final horn sounded to secure the victory for the Dare Devils. The Dare Devils making the box score were James Cooney with 3 goals and 2 assists, Riley Chiselko Seickel with 1 goal and 3 assists, Shea Passikoff with 3 goals, Patrick Hung with 1 goal and 1 assist, Patrick Law with 1 goal and 1 assist, Liam Smith with 1 goal, Ayden Duran with 1 goal, Owen Silverstein with 1 goal, Captain Ryan Griffin with 1 assist, and Theodore Howard with 1 assist. Ryan Tomkievicz played a solid all-around game by chipping in on the defensive side, showing great sportsmanship and offering up-lifting words of encouragement to his teammates throughout the game. A special thank you goes out to Captain Ryan Griffin for showing great sportsmanship as the official "A player/coach" during the game and to Taylor Esposito for playing goalie with us today and showing great sportsmanship.

5:30pm Saturday, 3/23 - NJ Dare Devils vs. Steel City Ice Bergs:

The Dare Devils, wearing their retro red and green jerseys, had another battle on Saturday evening against the opponent from Pittsburgh, PA. This time, we were anchored by goalie Aria Berlin, as she finally solved the weather and arrived with plenty of time to spare. Aria was the difference maker in this game and she led the Dare Devils to victory and even scored a goal by sneaking up ice as Steel City was in the midst of a line change. Patrick Law scored 5 goals, Shea Passikoff had 3 goals, Owen Silverstein had 3 goals, Riley Chiselko Seickel had 2 goals, and Liam Smith had 1 goal and 1 assist. Ryan Tomkievicz, Ayden Duran and Theodore Howard all played great games and almost scored on several occasions. Defensive specialist James Cooney was back to doing what he does best as he broke up numerous Ice Bergs attempts and set up his teammates with crisp passing. Patrick Hung showed great sportsmanship as he assisted one of his counterparts to score multiple goals and he cheered her on with his patented touchdown celebration. Lastly, Captain Ryan Griffin once again showed off his leadership by volunteering to play with the Bergs when he realized they were short handed. He set up his new teammates with numerous assists throughout the game.

10:00am Sunday, 3/24 - NJ Dare Devils vs. Rochester Ice Cats:

The Dare Devils closed out the tournament, and their season, wearing their black "Jersey" jerseys against the host team on Sunday morning. Even though most of the players were up late in the hotel celebrating another successful season, the team came out strong and managed to secure the victory to go undefeated for the tournament. After a pep talk from his mom prior to the game, Ryan Tomkievicz secured the victory by scoring the game winning goal in the final minutes of the contest. Shea Passikoff circled in the corner and found an open Ryan Griffin in the slot. Griffin faked a shot but instead passed the puck to Tomkievicz just outside of the crease. Tomkievicz went five-hole to net his 1st goal of the season - what a beauty - great job Ryan!  Making the box score were Riley Chiselko Seickel with 3 goals and 1 assist, Shea Passikoff with 2 goals and 2 assists, Owen Silverstein with 2 goals and 2 assists, Ryan Tomkievicz with 1 goal and 1 assist, Captain Ryan Griffin with 2 assists, Liam Smith with 1 goal, Ayden Duran with 1 assist, and James Cooney with 1 assist (and another solid defensive effort with several strong back checks). Aria Berlin was once again a difference maker in this game. Great game and great season Dare Devils!

Long Island Blues Winter Classic Summary - Saturday, 3/9/24

It is approximately 50 miles between Codey Arena and the Town of Oyster Bay Skating Center on Long Island. The Dare Devils have travelled farther this year for other tournaments. For instance, Buffalo is about 360 miles from West Orange. However, somehow, the drive to Long Island feels like the longest drive ever. But once we arrived to the arena in Bethpage, our blood pressure went back to normal levels and we enjoyed the first class event put on by the rival Long Island Blues. The Dare Devils played three games and put in an excellent effort throughout the afternoon and evening. Fourteen Dare Devils and three coaches made the trip to Long Island today (Aria Berlin, Bahad Worley, Connor Hung, Patrick Hung, Captain Ryan Griffin, Reese Citro, Liam Smith, Ayden Duran, Shea Passikoff, Kevin Plunkett, Aaron Quintana, Shea Passikoff, James Cooney and Alex Anson). The Dare Devils finished the tournament with one win, one loss and a dramatic come from behind last minute tie in the championship game. Below are the game highlights;

3:30pm vs. Long Island Blues

The Dare Devils opened the tournament against the talented Long Island Blues, led by our good friend, goalie Taylor Esposito. Maybe the blood pressure was still high from the drive because the Dare Devils had a tough time solving the Blues in this game. Aria Berlin was brilliant in net but her efforts were not enough to get past the Long Island squad. The Dare Devils were never really in the game and lost by a score of 9-3. Patrick Law scored two goals, Captain Ryan Griffin scored a goal and an assist and Connor Hung had an assist. Solid defensive efforts were put in by Ryan Griffin and Reese Citro. Citro made an excellent poke check and sprung Ayden Duran on a breakaway but Duran was stopped by a Taylor Esposito pad save.

4:30pm vs. Southern CT Storm

Back to back games were nothing to the Dare Devils. Coach Myles has been preparing the players for days like this with conditioning work at every practice. Despite playing two games in a row, the Dare Devils were full of energy against the Storm and were able to secure their first win of the tournament. Aria Berlin could have gotten a shutout but her sportsmanship got in the way. She made countless saves but ensured that our friends from Connecticut were able to enjoy the thrill of scoring a few goals. The offense was paced by Shea Passikoff with 4 goals, Alex Anson with 3 goals, Patrick Hung with 2 goals and 1 assist, Aaron Quintana with 2 goals, Ayden Duran with 2 assists , Reese Citro with two assists, Patrick Law with 1 goal and Liam Smith with one assist (off of a beautiful faceoff win on Quintana's 2nd goal). Solid defensive efforts were once again put in by both of our A players, Captain Ryan Griffin and Reese Citro. Bahad Worley, competing in his first away tournament, played a solid game and was in on the action throughout the contest.

7:30pm vs. Long Island Blues for the Tournament Championship

After a wonderful bbq dinner (thank you Blues) and an excellent awards ceremony, the Dare Devils were given the opportunity to avenge their opening loss against the Blues in the main event of the night. The Dare Devils came out of the gate flying and scored the first two goals of the game. El Capitan (Ryan Griffin) scored the opening goal and James Cooney was back to his defensive excellence with a well-timed poke check and pass that sprung Patrick Hung for another Dare Devils goal. The rest of the game was a back and forth affair with the Blues taking the lead and the Dare Devils staying close throughout. Reese Citro, Ryan Griffin, Patrick Hung and Alex Anson (assisted by Griffin) put in goals but the Dare Devils still found themselves down a goal with a minute to play. Coach Terence's coaching classes paid off and he gamely pulled Aria Berlin for an extra attacker in the final minute. Ryan Griffin hopped the boards and immediately went to work trying to get the tying goal past Esposito. Esposito was able to make several saves but our Captain's heroics ultimately came through and he completed his hat-trick by scoring the tying goal with 15 seconds remaining. Berlin went back in net as the final seconds ticked away and the game ended in a tie. Berlin was excellent throughout and her strong play was the difference in securing this tie. Kevin Plunkett played an excellent game and made several key defensive plays and passes that set his teammates up for opportunities.

3/2/24 Practice Summary and Last Practice Party Summary

And that's a wrap! Although the traveling Dare Devils have a couple of tournaments over the next several weeks, today marked the last practice of the season. It's sad to see the season coming to an end but it is inspiring to see all of the progress our players have made throughout the year. Coach Myles made sure that this practice left the players worn out but also excited to put in the offseason work to come back strong next season.

During the first half of practice, Coaches Myles, Billy, Steve Toledo, Eric, et all ran the players through some intense drills. This was followed by a spirited 45 minute inter-squad scrimmage with star goalie Aria Berlin in one net and the shooter tutor in the other goal. Aria continued her streak of stellar play by standing on her head throughout the game. The gifted Jimmy McTernan felt Aria's wrath today as she stopped him on at least 5 breakaways throughout the scrimmage. There was one sequence where Jimmy back-checked to break up a 2 on 0 breakaway, turned up ice, deked past 3 defenders and found himself one v. one with Aria. Aria stopped the first shot with a right pad save and stopped the rebound attempt while on her back. Although Aria bested Jimmy today, Jimmy maintained his ever-present smile throughout the scrimmage - great sportsmanship, Jimmy!

But don't fear, there was ultimately some offensive fireworks as the scrimmage progressed. Shea Passikoff scored 3 goals and had an assist, Will Milazzo scored two goals (one being a beautiful snipe in the top corner opening of the shooter tutor), Riley Chiselko Seickel scored two goals, both going top shelf (when commended on the goals, Riley offered that he practices his shooting on a daily basis, and it shows), Danny Giger scored a goal and celebrated with a well-choreographed dance, Patrick Hung had one goal and Reese Citro had an assist. The highlight of the game to me was watching Vincent Racamato fly all over the ice. He made several beautiful moves and tried to score on the shooter tutor on a few occasions but could not sneak one past the tutor. Seeing that his shot couldn't solve the tutor, Vincent literally took matters into his own hands and picked up the puck and threw it into one of the shooter tutor openings. Although the goal didn't count, it was entertaining to see. Great work, Vinny! I also want to highlight the play of Theodore Howard and Orion Lee. Both had several offensive attempts today and both of their games have shown significant progression over the past month. Keep up the great work guys!

Practice was followed by an end of season pizza and dessert party in the lobby/party rooms. A great time was had by all of the players, coaches and families. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make this party such a wonderful event. A special thank you also goes out to the coaches and junior coaches that have volunteered throughout the season. We've had record numbers of coaches in attendance this year and your philanthropic work allows our players to continue to build their skillsets and to flourish. Thank you for all of your efforts as your contributions have a meaningful impact on the lives of our players.

Lastly, thank you Frank Ingram for continuing to document our events. It's special to be able to see pictures of players doing what they do. Today's practice gallery can be found here. The party pictures can be found here. Thanks again, Frank!

Binghamton Tournament Summary

A good number of Dare Devils made the pilgrimage up to Binghamton for the annual ASHA Broome Includes International Festival Tournament. This is a special event as we get to play on the beautiful outdoor "Farm Rink" at the Pierce Family Compound (a much nicer outdoor venue than MetLife Stadium).

The weekend started with Captain Ryan Griffin, Shea Passikoff, Coaches Myles, Billy, Steve Toledo and Brendon attending the Friday night game to see the Binghamton Black Bears take on the Watertown Wolves in an action packed FPHL contest at Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. There were fights, blood, and goals with the home team prevailing by a score of 6-3. A great time was had by all of the Dare Devils representatives in attendance.

On Saturday night, all of the teams were treated to a night at the museum. It was a great party and all of the players and families had a ton of fun.

Three Dare Devils A players are playing on mixed A teams throughout the tournament. It was reported that Ryan Griffin scored 2 goals for the green team, Will Milazzo played strong defense for the green team and Reese Citro put in a solid all-around performance for the red squad in the games that occurred on Saturday morning.

El Capitan (Ryan Griffin) and Will Millazzo led the green A squad to a 5-3 win over the blue team in their afternoon tilt. Ryan (aka Cap) scored a nice goal to help seal the win for the greens. Reese Citro once again played an excellent afternoon game and led the reds to victory.

The A main event was on Sunday morning. Captain Ryan Griffin, Will Milazzo and the greens took on Reese Citro and the reds. Reese led the reds to an undefeated weekend. However, Reese offered up the following: "you guys did he good job coaching Ryan. He is very difficult to play against." A players - Great job representing the Dare Devils this weekend!

Dare Devils B/C vs. Philadelphia Flyers 2/24/24 @ 9am:

The Dare Devils B/C squad opened the tournament with a narrow loss to the Philadelphia Flyers team at the Farm Rink. The Dare Devils had a tough time getting out of the gate in this game. Perhaps it was the cold or maybe it was the last minute schedule change that forced the esteemed Andy Piccirillo to alter his plans and make the late Friday night drive up to Binghamton to get here in time for the 9am puck drop. The Dare Devils still gave it a go, braving the sub-freezing temperatures and were in the game throughout. The NJ team was led by a spirited performance from goalie Aria Berlin, who made numerous acrobatic saves to keep the score close. Owen Silverstein (assisted by Andrew Piccirillo) and Patrick Hung scored for the Dare Devils. The Dare Devils ran into a hot Flyers goalie who stopped point blank shots from Patrick Law, Andrew DePiero, Shea Passikoff and Patrick Hung. Strong defensive efforts were put in by Sean Glassett, James Cooney, Kevin Plunkett, Orion Lee and Connor Hung.

Dare Devils B/C vs. NY Raptors/CP North Stars/Space Coast Supercanes combined squad 2/24/24 @ 4pm (By John Smith on site and Coach Brendon on closed circuit TV):

After a lengthy delay to deal with sun related open-air ice issues at the Farm Rink, the Dare Devils found themselves in an early 2-0 hole against the Eastern NY Super Team. It was starting to feel like this would turn into a losing weekend for the Dare Devils. Luckily, Owen Silverstein maintained his composure and took matters into his own hands by getting the Dare Devils back into the game with an unassisted wraparound goal. Soon after, defensive specialist James Cooney went to work in the offensive zone and scored a greasy goal right in front of the opponents crease to tie the score and change the momentum in the game. The Dare Devils went up by a goal when Owen Silverstein put home an Andrew Piccirillo assist. However, the lead was short lived as the super squad quickly put two more on the board to wrestle the lead back. Andrew Piccirillo tied the score back up when he took a clean center-ice face-off to the net for his first goal of the tournament. After the NY team took back the lead again, Patrick Law scored an unassisted goal quickly followed by another Owen Silverstein goal to complete his hat-trick and seal the victory for the Dare Devils. The Hung boys (Patrick and Connor) played strong defensive games for the Dare Devils. Patrick was given the enviable task of matching up against the top NY line throughout the game and Connor had a couple of key blocked shots that stopped scoring threats. Aria Berlin was once again brilliant in defending her crease to get the victory. She made numerous point-blank saves to help the Dare Devils come out victorious.

Dare Devils B/C vs. York Polar Bears 2/25/24 @ 8am:

Keeping to the tournament theme, the Binghamton schedulers did not offer any favors to the Dare Devils with the early wake-up call for today's game. Despite the early start, the Dare Devils played extremely well against the formidable York Polar Bears. However, the Dare Devils may need to go back to school to relearn the alphabet as this was the best B/C team we have ever played against. York had several extremely skilled players on their team and they were ultimately too much to overcome as the Dare Devils suffered a tough loss, despite putting in a valiant effort. Connor Hung opened the scoring for the Dare Devils by blasting a 70 foot shot past the unsuspecting Polar Bear goalie. The Hung Boys were at it again for the 2nd Dare Devils goal. Connor made a great defensive play and passed the puck to brother Patrick who buried his shot past the goalie. Patrick Law, playing his best game of the season, was all over the ice today. He made several key defensive stops and scored the 3rd Dare Devils goal of the day by putting home a breakaway. He was right back at it on his next shift as his shot from just inside the blue line was deftly tipped by Andrew DePiero (looking like Chris Kreider) into the net. Aaron Quintana played a focused game on both the offensive and defensive ends and James Cooney was once again a steady defensive presence. The ultimate star of the day for the Dare Devils was goalie Aria Berlin. She made numerous key saves, including several pad stops. The highlight was when she flashed her cat-like glove to snare a Polar Bear snap shot that was headed for the upper corner. Great effort, Aria, and great effort Dare Devils!

Game Summary @ Southern Connecticut Storm 2/18/24

By John Smith (#70 Liam's Dad)

A group of Dare Devil players took a leisurely Sunday drive to Bridgeport Connecticut to take on the Southern Connecticut Storm. This was a makeup of a scheduled January matchup which was postponed due to snow. The players involved must have had this date circled on their calendar since then as all of them seemed locked-in and focused on the task at hand. The result was a 9-5 Dare Devil victory that was not as close as the final score might suggest. Much of the game was spent in the Dare Devils offensive zone as they peppered the Connecticut Storm goalie with a multitude of high danger scoring chances. The Storm goaltender was superb, making great save after great save. He received some help from the goalpost as well as at least a half dozen Dare Devil shots rang off the post.

Dare Devil goalie Aria Berlin did not see a high volume of shots but the ones she did face were grade A chances, and she was more than up to the challenge as the Dare Devil lead was never in question aside from a brief 2-2 tie score. Aria also got on the scoresheet with an assist. Will Milazzo scored a hat trick. His third goal coming on a neat backhand from the goal front. In what might have been a first, Team Manager Bernard Cooney got in on the scoring without lacing up the skates, picking up an assist on Milazzo’s 2nd goal. We are awaiting league ruling on whether Bernard will receive official credit for the assist, but after a puck deflected into the bench area, Bernard flipped the puck into the corner to keep play moving. Milazzo then skated the puck end to end and beat the Storm goaltender for his second goal of the game.

Original Dare Devil Will Trampota scored a milestone goal. League scoring records are a little unreliable, but this is believed to be Trampota’s 299th point in his Dare Devils career. We'll see if Will can reach 300 this season! Ryan Griffin and Kory Wadleigh continued the chemistry they showed in Saturday's American Dream Mall game, each with two goals and an assist. Patrick Hung had two assists and numerous scoring chances. Aaron Quintana got on the scoresheet with an assist. James Cooney, who was setting up his teammates with nice passes all day, got a well-earned goal as he followed up his own rebound. Liam Smith, Owen Silverstein, and Ayden Duran each had multiple shots on goal, and all would have scored if not for the excellent goaltending of the Storm. Duran was stopped on a clear breakaway. Connor Hung, Sean Glassett and Kevin Plunkett were all engaged and involved making this a true team victory.

2/17/24 Practice & American Dream Game Summary

Practice Summary

Despite what Coach Terence called "extreme winter weather elements," a critical mass of players and coaches still made it out to practice today. Coaches Myles, Billy, and Steve Toledo led the charge, along with our loyal junior coaches. Thank you to everyone for coming out! (Frank the "Photographer" took a well-deserved day off.)

American Dream Mall Game Summary

By John Smith (#70 Liam's Dad)

On a snowy morning, a contingent of eight Dare Devil “Mallrats” made the trek to the American Dream Mall to take part in a combined squad matchup with the Brick Stars and Philadelphia Flyers special hockey.

Seven of these Mallrats played for the squad dubbed “Stardevils” while Reese Citro lent his considerable skills to the Philadelphia squad.

The teams played a game consisting of one period with a 60-minute running time. The teams felt each other out for the first ten minutes until Owen Silverstein put the Stardevils up with a goal scored high to the blocker side to continue his torrid scoring streak. The Stardevils would score the first three goals before the Flyers would come back with four consecutive goals to take the lead. The Stardevils would again score three straight goals to take the lead back which they would not relinquish as the game would end in a 10-9 victory for the Stardevils.

All the Dare Devil players performed admirably. Reese Citro was a leader for the Flyers squad and played lock down defense as well as chipping in a couple of assists. Ari Berlin split time in the Stardevils net with the talented Brick goalie and made many tough saves. She also took a shift at forward in full goalie gear and flashed some nifty stickhandling moves. Ryan Griffin scored on a nice assist from Kory Wadleigh and Ryan returned the favor with some beautiful east west passing on Kory’s first goal. Kory scored his second of the game on a nice takeaway at the blueline. Ayden Duran, Liam Smith, and Micayla Shields each got on the scoresheet with an assist. Brick Stars players provided six goals as well to the Stardevils total. Thank you to the Brick Stars for allowing our Dare Devils to participate in such a unique opportunity and to the Philadelphia Flyers youth special hockey team for sharing the ice with us.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some of our players, junior coaches, and families were also treated to the Stadium Game at MetLife last night and watched the Devils beat the Flyers 6-3 in front over 70,000 fans. According to John, the hardcore metal band "Jonas Brothers" also performed before the game. Sounds fun!

Game Summary @ Philadelphia Freeze 2/4/24

The Dare Devils woke up at the crack of dawn and a caravan of 9 families made the trek south for an away game in Philadelphia. There was not a cloud in the sky as we were treated to the sunrise glistening off of the NYC Skyline to start our ride. However, the NJ Turnpike is not known for its scenery and the view quickly faded to smokestacks, oil containers, warehouses and barren trees until we arrived at the Tarken Rec Center Ice Rink, nestled amongst row homes, in Northeast Philadelphia for the 9am puck drop.

The Freeze lived up to their name as this was the coldest ice rink the Dare Devils have ever played in. I'm still rubbing my hands together as I type this game summary. But the cold had a positive impact as the Dare Devils came out of the gate flying and peppered the talented Freeze goalie with numerous point blank shots. They were not able to solve him until Owen Silverstein put home a breakaway by going top shelf about 5 minutes into the game. This game was close throughout and the Dare Devils were only able to seal the victory during the last shift of the game when James Cooney was rewarded for his strong back checking effort. James skated the length of the ice to thwart a Freeze scoring chance and passed the puck up ice to Shea Passikoff. Shea's shot was stopped by the Freeze goaltender but James buried the rebound to close out the game. The Dare Devils played a solid all around game, passing the puck throughout and putting in a strong defensive effort, led by Kory Wadleigh, Connor Hung and James Cooney.

All of the players made the box score led by Owen Silverstein with 6 goals, Shea Passikoff with 5 goals and 2 assists, Riley Chiselko Seickel with 2 goals and 2 assists, James Cooney with 1 goal and 2 assists, Liam Smith with 1 goal and 2 assists, Connor Hung with 1 goal, Sean Glassett with 1 assist, Ayden Duran with 1 assist and Kory Wadleigh with 1 assist.

The Freeze showed us why Philadelphia is known as the City of Brotherly Love with all of their generosity, sportsmanship and hospitality. Not only did they host us today but they also lent us their goalies and treated us to goodies in the lobby after the game. Thank you, Freeze - we can't wait to see you again at the Binghamton tournament!

Game Summary @ Woodbridge Warriors 2/3/24

Our dedicated volunteer head coach, Myles, had a busy morning. The Dare Devils had their regular practice this morning in West Orange at 9am and a game in Woodbridge at 11am. As hectic as that sounds, it was admirably handled by Coach Myles. He led 12 players at practice, changed out of his coaching gear, hopped in his car and sped down the parkway to get to Woodbridge shortly after the puck drop. He arrived just in time to help the Dare Devils avoid disaster. Coach Terence, Coach Brendon and Coach Bernard were in over their heads trying to manage 22 skaters on evenly matched lines.

By the time Coach Myles arrived, the Dare Devils were in a 2-1 hole with the lone goal coming from Micayla Shields off a Will Trampota assist. Coach Myles quickly restored order by setting up 4 lines, each anchored by one of our star A players (Will Trampota, Will Milazzo, Reese Citro, and Kory Wadleigh). From this point on, the Dare Devils operated like a well oiled machine and ultimately won a nail-biter against the strong Woodbridge squad. The Dare Devils were without a goalie today so the two talented Warriors net-minders split their time between both teams. Some of the offensive highlights included a Will Trampota wraparound goal (assisted by Shea Passikoff and Patrick Law) and an Owen Silverstein end-to-end rush that resulted in a beautiful breakaway goal. Earlier in the game, Owen showed his newly minted maturity and stuck to his "sharing is caring" mantra by assisting on a Shea Passikoff goal. The following Dare Devils made the score sheet: Jimmy McTernan with 4 goals, Kory Wadleigh with 2 goals, Shea Passikoff 1 goal and 1 assist, Will Trampota 1 goal and 1 assist, Patrick Law 1 goal and 1 assist, Owen Silverstein 1 goal and 1 assist, Reese Citro 1 goal and 1 assist, Micayla Shields 1 goal, Ryan Kientz 1 assist, Andrew Piccirillo 1 assist, and Connor Hung 1 assist.

In addition to the efforts of the four A players, solid defensive games were once again put in by Connor Hung and James Cooney. They both broke up numerous Warrior scoring chances. Strong efforts were also given by Riley Chiselko Seickel, Liam Smith, Henry Barrios, Samantha Ciemieki, Sean Glassett, Ryan Tomkievicz, Aaron Quintana and Madison Mitchell. Alfonso Mosca showed brilliant stick-handling and skating, leading to several breakaways but he couldn't sneak one past the talented goalies.

Frank was at the game and the gallery can be found here. (thank you Frank).

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Woodbridge Warriors for hosting us today, showing great sportsmanship, sharing their goalies and treating us to an awesome pizza party after the game. Your generosity is greatly appreciated - thank you Warriors!
