3/21/26 Summary - Game @ NY Raptors and “A” Game @ Bucks County Admirals
NJ DareDevils vs. NY Raptors (Saturday 3/21/26 5:15PM) (written by beat writer John Smith):
A group of 8 Daredevils made the trip across the Mario Cuomo Bridge to renew their Hudson River Rivalry with the NY Raptors. The latest chapter in this rivalry unfolded at the historic Rye Playland Ice Casino. The iconic venue built in 1928 served as the NY Rangers practice facility for 23 years from 1979 until 2002. Located in the renowned Playland amusement park, the arena and its boardwalk have been featured in several films and TV shows, including the memorable Zoltar fortune teller machine scene from the Tom Hanks movie “Big.” These Daredevils were not there to sightsee, however. They had “Big” plans of their own for this Saturday evening matchup and came out ready to play.
The Daredevils wasted no time setting the tone for the matchup, jumping out to an early lead with two goals from Liam Smith. The highlight came on his second goal, where he executed a hesitation move that forced the opposing goalie out of position, allowing him to finish with a skillful deke and bury the puck in the net. James Cooney and Ayden Duran both playing inspired hockey added goals to increase the Daredevils lead. The Daredevils then showcased some of their passing skills as Liam Smith set up James Cooney for his second of the game and Owen Silverstein set up Micayla Shields on an impressive goal by Micayla. Owen was making some great passing plays throughout the game but next he showed his finishing skill by netting a goal himself. Connor Hung was a force all game long in the defensive end of the ice and had many scoring chances throughout the game but was stymied by the impressive goaltending of the NY Raptors (thanks to the Raptors for sharing your goalies with us). The double shifting however started to take it’s toll and the Daredevil’s lead slowly chipped away as the Raptors enforced their will on the game and eventually tied the score. Andrew Katz was locked in and hunting pucks each shift he was out there. Joel Gooblar scored his first goal of the season and James Cooney completed a hat trick with his third of the game but eventually the Daredevils fell by a score of 10-9. Each player’s efforts contributed to an intense and closely contested match, highlighting the competitive spirit that defines this ongoing rivalry which will be continued next week in the Lake Placid tournament.
The Daredevils would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the NY Raptors for their hospitality throughout the day. Not only did the Raptors graciously lend their goalies for the match, but they also hosted a fantastic after-game celebration. The evening ended with everyone enjoying delicious pizza and a selection of great desserts, making for a memorable and enjoyable experience for all.
”A” Game @ Bucks County (AP Reporter):
In addition to the game in Westchester, our most talented “A” level players travelled to Bucks County, PA, to play in an ASHA “A” level all-star game. The Dare Devils were represented by Kory Wadleigh and Will Milazzo (wearing white uniforms); and Captain Ryan Griffin, Reese Citro and Patrick Law (wearing black uniforms). Coach T handled coaching duties for this event. Patrick Hung was also selected to play in this showcase but he is currently on injured reserve. All of the Dare Devils superstars performed admirably, led by Captain Ryan Griffin (2 goals), Kory Wadleigh (1 goal, 1 assist), Will Milazzo (1 goal), Reese Citro (1 assist) and Patrick Law, with stellar all-around play. Way to go guys, great showing!
